:::  Summary :::

I. Summary of Export :-

Export during 2006-2007 (April-March’07), which was Rs.10,552 Million equivalent to about US$ 241 Million, was lower by 11% in Indian Rupees and by 10% in average dollar terms as compared to the same period of 2005-2006 (2,85,800 MT/Rs.11,862 Million/US$ 267 Million). In terms of quantity, export during 2006-2007 was to the tune of 2,42,800 M.Ton, which was also lower by 15% as compared to same period of 2005-2006.

This declining trend in cumulative exports has been mainly attributable to fall in exports of major exportable items like Hessian by 29% in quantity and by 24% in value, and JDPs by 18% in value terms. However, export of Yarn has shown an upward trend by 13% in quantity and 14% in value terms as compared to corresponding period of previous year. Similarly, Sacking also has shown an increasing trend by 4% in value terms during 2006-07 as compared to 2005-06.
