Jute Geotextiles
Geotextiles are textiles applied in soil to improve its engineering properties. Geotextiles may be either man-made (loosely called synthetic) or natural. Man-made Geotextiles are made of artificialfibres like polypropylene, polyethylene and some other petrochemical derivatives. Natural Geotextiles, on the other hand, are made out of natural fibres like jute, coir, sisal and the like. Jute Geotextile (JGT) is a natural Technical Textile.
The prefix "geo" indicates soil and "textiles" are fabrics laid in or upon soil. According to the latest convention, the term 'geosynthetics' is globally accepted and includes not only man-made geotextiles, but also natural geotextiles such as Jute Geotextiles (JGT).
